Auto Towing Need Not Be A Nightmare

All but the very luckiest of souls has, at some point, had their car towed away from them in the wake of malfunction from an automotive towing company, or worse, come out to the place it had once been parked only to find some phantom tow truck had grabbed hold of their prized possession and quickly spirited it away. The latter case is always most infuriating, though having to call an towing company is never anyone’s idea of a ripping good time in itself. Either way, without traffic enforcement bylaws and tow Trucks we probably wouldn’t recognize the world we live in, so it’s time to accept their existence, and know a few things about them that can help you in case you have to cross their path.

The first thing to make sure of as a car owner is that you have a plan of action in mind in the event of a breakdown or, God forbid, a sudden realization that you haven’t the requisite amount of gasoline to continue running that combustion engine of yours. It’s embarrassing, yes – but hey, it happens to all of us, so the best thing to do is swallow pride and vanity and ring up a auto towing company ASAP to get that motionless heap of your off the road as quickly as humanly possible. Having a number handy with you in your car at all times is a necessity. Just when you’re having the worse day of your life as your engine overheats on two-lane bridge in the middle of summer, billowing smoke out like chimney, you don’t need the added joy of having to stop and ask someone if they know the number of a tow truck so that you can quickly get out of the flow angry motorists who are bound to be making vocal their aggravation with you.

But that, of course, is the worst of the possible scenarios which could force you to have to call a towing company. We’ve all done the key-in-the-ignition thing, where we frantically grope ourselves in hopes of realizing we’ve left our set of keys in some secret, hidden pocket we didn’t realize we had, and then peered in through the tightly sealed window to see them dangling there inside locked doors. Again, we hate to admit our own stupidity, but it happens, and a towing company is the first number you punch into your cell phone to admit the understandable lapse in common sense. Of course, you may also be in the unfortunate position of having battery with no more juice without another soul around to help jumpstart you back into running order.

And then there’s the other kind of auto towing that we have to bear witness to on a daily basis: the parking violation tow away. This, surely, is no laughing matter, but it’s also important for you as the motorist (in this case, parked motorist) to know that there are rules and regulations that every towing company must abide by before they hook themselves up to your car and speed off to the nearest impound lot. These laws are up to you to be aware of, and are occasionally broken at the motorist expense, when companies assume that car owners will be too ignorant to know their rights. Firstly, a car cannot usually be towed by an auto towing company due to a parking infraction unless the proper authorities are noted, and a significant amount of time (usually in the neighborhood of an hour) has elapsed to give the owner a chance to claim his automobile. Second, if you race out to see a truck in the process of raising your car up to tow away, you have the right to tell him to lower it back down, and it is against the law for him to impound it after you have done so.

Just knowing this much can save you money and stress, in what is bound to be a costly and stressful enough situation as it is. Know your rights and be prepared, and your encounters with the towing companies won’t be as horrifying as they could be.

Auto Lemon Laws

Generally, there are three pieces of legislation that you are to be acquainted with if you ever have to deal with a lemon car case (God forbid!). They include state lemon laws (sometimes referred to as warranty laws) that show differences as you move from one state to another, the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). If your state lemon law does not cover your case, you can safeguard your rights by going to the latter two.

Now let's have a closer look at these laws. A state lemon law is legislation that applies to the vehicles with persistent defect(s) and defines in what cases the manufacturer breached the warranty and what the consumer is entitled to if the warranty is breached. Normally, the customer has the right to claim a refund or a new replacement.

The lemon law is effective only if the vehicle comes with an express written warranty and during the warranty period. In most states it covers new cars that have been purchased to be used for family, personal or household purposes. A car bought for business purposes is not covered by the state lemon law, but can be refunded or replaced under the Magnuson-Moss Act or Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).

Usually, when you are reduced to seeking justice, the action that you have to take depends on the state where you bought or registered your vehicle. In some of them, launching a written complaint is enough, while in others you will have to hire an attorney. Anyway, if your car dealer or manufacturer are unable to satisfy your claim, you first go to the arbitration and, if necessary, to court of law to resolve the dispute. And it is a manufacturer, not a car dealer, that you take to court.

The Magnuson-Moss Act is a federal lemon law. It is a forebear of all state laws and serves as recourse, when state laws don't help. Its mission is to protect the buyer from manufacturer's breaching warranty. If your attorney chooses to sue under the Magnuson-Moss Act, the manufacturer is to recover your attorney's fees (if you win the case). It refers to the vehicles and other personal property priced $25 and higher purchased "for purposes other than resale". The law was enforced in 1975 and covers the products that were acquired after July 4 that year.

The Magnuson-Moss Act deals with both "full" and "limited" warranties. The case can be taken to court with a valid cause of action even after the warranty has expired as long as the defect appeared in the vehicle during the period of warranty.

And last but not least is Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). This law grants the customer the right to claim a refund or a new vehicle replacement, if the defect(s) present in the car have proved to continue after several attempts ("a reasonable amount of attempts") have been made to repair the inoperable part. The threshold of proof is defined by a particular state law.

When and if you decide to take action against lemon makers, you can study the laws and do it yourself, but it can be wise to hire an attorney, who can do it quicker and more efficient with his fees recovered by the manufacturer.

Auto Import Options To Count On

Auto import is one of the largest markets of car purchases each and every year in the United States. For some, this is a good thing. For others though, this is a very troubling aspect that many people need to be concerned about. Nevertheless, there are many reasons why people look overseas for their car purchases. Auto import sales are expected to continue to grow especially with more fuel efficient autos and the ever rising costs of fuel. But what is your side of the auto import story?

First, there are those who are just looking for the car they want. It doesn?t mater to them where it was made. They want a good car that offers all the bells and whistles it can, but that also provides great mileage as well as a great price. These things are more difficult than you think to come by. In the world of auto import options, many of the cars that come in form economies like Japan and China are much less expensive simply because of the cost of labor and the cost of manufacture is so much lower there. So, the price you pay is simply lower in this case.

But, on the other side of the coin are all of the manufacturers of autos in the United States who struggle to stay ahead. This is a fierce competition. People want the best products but they want them cheaply. In many cases, this is just not possible in the American economy. But it ends up hurting us all in the end when these factors lay individuals off and then they cannot work.

With all of this said, there are still many reasons to consider about the auto import. They are great Cars, made to perform as they should. They offer many of the latest and great technologies that make them so very important on the market. Some are high class cars and SUV?s that are there to impress while others are economies that are just awesome in the way of saving you money. The choice is yours whether you go for the auto import or not.

Affordable Performance Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T

In 1993 the all new Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T replaced the successful R32 GTS- T. Little brother to the all conquering GTR the GTS25-T is more affordable and still a thrilling ride. It features a more modern new shape with smooth lines rather than the sharp edges of the previous model. The new looks were debatable some liked the newer styling of the R33 and some preferred the harder edges of the R32.

On the road with the R33 the first thing you notice is how smooth the R25DET engine is power delivery is linier and the car pulls hard from 3000rpm to the 7000 rpm redline. The manual coupe version will propel you from 0-100 in 6.18 seconds and complete the quarter in 14.4. Maximum power is 187kw at 6400 and a max torque 295nm at 4800.

The RB25DET is a ripper and featured technology ahead of it time. The 2.5 liter turbo intercooled straight 6 features a twin cam head with variable valve timing on the intake side.

Handling of the coupe is great with a good balance between comfort and a sports like feel. The rear of the car steered by a system called HICAS which works by calculating the speed and angle of the car through the corners. This feature seems to minimize under- steer and kept the car flat through the corner. The rear on the car is equipped with a viscous LSD and steps out ever so progressively when pushing hard. This makes the car easy to control but if pushed to hard it would be easy to loose the rear end. The skyline is a medium size coupe weighing in at 1360kg and when cornering its a great drive but not quiet as direct or nibble though the bends as the lighter R32 was. But light suspension modifications improve handling significantly.

In Australia a good series 1 GTS25-T can be picked up for around $17,000 and a series 2 for around 20,000. With standard features including electric windows and climate control I thinks it is great value for money. With light modifications to the engine and suspension this car can be turned into a street weapon.

Are You watching Your Fuel Guage More Than Your Speedo

Are You Driving on Fresh Air
Do you travel miles to save pennies on fuel costs
Do you watch your fuel gauge more than your Speedo
Is the rising cost of Gas strangling you
Fear not...Help is at hand...GET A BICYCLE
Seriously, there are a few things that can be done without throwing your car
keys away and walking everywhere.
A lot of the things you can do to save fuel are easy and free.
When was the last time you checked your tires to see if they were inflated to
the correct pressure Under inflated tires are one of the main causes of
excess fuel consumption. It's easy to check your tire pressures daily with a
cheap tire pressure gauge if you don't know how asks your local garage
mechanic to show you -A free beer works wonders-
When you buy your fuel can have an effect on what you get. Gas is sold by
volume and as we all know from school, liquids expand when warm, so if you
buy your gas at the hottest part of the day you will get less than if you buy
when it is cold. So the logical time to buy your gas is just before dawn when it's coldest.
With Twenty-four hour shopping it would make sense to do your weekly shop while others
are asleep and fill up your tank at the same time. The roads will be quieter
so less traffic to get stuck behind and waste fuel.
There are various free websites that will tell you the cheapest gas prices
in your area.
How about just washing your car. It causes less drag, ... Honestly. Why do
you think that swimmers shave their heads i.e. Duncan Goodhew Or what
about those skin tight smooth figure hugging suits worn by downhill skiers
Just going for a cold shower.
Make Car washing fun, get all the family involved. Hose down the dog, hose
down the kids. Hose down the whole neighbourhood. If winter you may ignore
this one
Sitting at the lights revving the engine may impress the boy racers but it
uses gas. Rev the engine 15 times and you use enough fuel to travel one mile.
Remember this next time you have to push your car to the gas station.
Is your car due for a service I know a good priest who can give the last
rites at a reasonable price. I know it costs money for servicing your car if
you are unable to do it yourself. But the cost in extra fuel if your car is
not running right is even more. Blocked air filter, worn spark plugs,
sticking brakes, etc.
Best of all drive safely. Do not tailgate! if you do you will have to brake
harder when the car in front does. Give some distance to the car in front.
You will use your brakes less and still get there at the same time. Watch the
traffic far ahead and try to read how they are going to act, if you see brake
lights up ahead you can react a bit sooner.
If you are driving in the wet you can sometimes see the reflections of brake
lights on the wet road surface. This allows you to slow down sooner and avoid

harsh braking.

Are All Car Insurance Companies Equal Here Is What To Look For

Car insurance protects you against any financial loss that may happen due to an accident or theft of your car. It is a car insurance company that issues car insurance to you. A car insurance company will work up a car insurance policy for you after evaluating the various options like the make of your car, the premium that you are willing to pay, your insurance risk, etc. A yearly premium has to be paid by you to the car insurance company so that the company can pay for your loses that you may bear in the future. All the terms and conditions are mentioned in the contract and it is your duty as a Car owner to look over all the points and ask the insurance agent any questions that you have in mind. It is only after all the terms and conditions are clear to you that you should sign on the dotted line and pay the premium.
Normally all car insurance companies have the same insurance policies. The premium to be paid and the percentage of losses to be covered in case of any accident may vary slightly. Since the car insurance market is very competitive, the premium rates and other terms and conditions almost remain the same.
A car insurance policy may provide property, liability and coverage depending on the type of policy. The property coverage covers losses for damage of the car or the theft of the car. Liability coverage pays for any legal liabilities to other people for bodily harm or property damage. And medical coverage covers expenses for treating injuries, medicine expenses and funeral expenses in case of a car accident. You may buy the different types of coverage depending on how much you want to spend on your policy.
A car insurance policy usually consists of 6 types of coverage. As mentioned before a customer can select from the different types of coverage. Most of the car policies last from six months to a year. Your car insurance company will bill you when it is time to renew your policy and be prepared for a rate hike.
The different types of coverage are
Bodily Injury Liability
This type of liability covers the expenses of injuries that you may cause to someone else while driving your car. Also the coverage includes injuries caused to a person while driving other person's car.
Medical Payments and Personal Injury Protection
This type of liability covers the expenses for the treatment of injuries to drivers and other passengers. The liability also covers medical expenses and funeral expenses in the case of death.
Property Damage Liability
This type of liability covers for damage to the other person's car and your car. It may also include damage to lamp posts, telephone poles, fences and other public property.
Collision
This type of liability covers expenses for damage to your car or the other person's car. Even if you are at fault, then also you will be reimbursed for the expenses of repairing the car.
Comprehensive
This liability covers loses due to theft or damage to the car by something other than collision with another object or damage to the car due to fire, falling objects, explosion, earthquake, etc.
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage
This liability covers damages to your car by another driver who is uninsured.

The coverages mentioned above are offered by all car insurance companies. In almost all states, car insurance is mandatory. Therefore, it is your responsibility as a car driver to have a policy.

An introduction to collecting car brochures - Part 2 Your theme

Before starting your brochure collection, in my view it is best to have a very clear idea about what you want to achieve.
The reason for collecting is not important, but knowing the reason is. Are you interested in a particular period in history, a particular Car, type of car or brochures from a particular country, for example
Once you have decided what the purpose of your collection is, write it down or print it out and keep it with all the items you collect.
Why should you do this, you may ask The reason is that this will keep you focussed on what you are trying to achieve and stop you going off at tangents or pursuing avenues that are fruitless.
With the advent of the Internet, it is so easy to see an item on eBay or a website such as mine and buy on a whim. This will detract from your overall collection as there will be no theme to it and therefore it will be worth less both as a source of reference and value wise.
Also, there are very few people who do not have a budget and every 'off topic' brochure you buy will reduce the amount of money you could spend on building and completing your collection.
If you adopt this approach, very soon you will find yourself becoming expert at valuing and sourcing the brochures that interest you. This will help you avoid paying more than necessary for that 'so-called' rare brochure and allow you to spot undervalued bargains. With a subject as broad as brochure collecting, it is impossible to be an expert on the whole market and probably even on, for example, all Ford brochures. If you will excuse the pun, Focus
By using this method you will also build a network of dealers or friends with a common interest who will become invaluable in helping you fill gaps in your collection by way of swaps or trade…a benefit that cannot be underestimated and as someone once said, 'it is not what you know, but who you know'
The scattergun approach is simply a waste of effort. Do not do it

Next week I will be discussing what to look for when buying brochures and critically, what to avoid.

Modifying a Chevrolet Vehicle with Custom Wheels

Almost every Chevrolet car owner, owning an automobile like a Chevrolet, looks forward to improve the way their vehicle performs and an ideal way to do is certainly with the addition of custom wheels which can even enhance the Chevrolet car’s appearance too. Even though custom wheels have recently become really popular, there are quite a few factors that Chevrolet car owners would definitely have to consider when selecting such wheels specifically for Chevrolet vehicles.

 Budget

Since the price of each and every custom wheel out there for Chevrolet cars is quite different you would also have to consider your budget and how much you would be able to pay. In any case, custom wheels perform really efficiently, acting as an appealing factor for a Chevrolet car like chevrolet camaro or Corvette and similarly can be rather expensive as well. The chances are, that the more attractive custom wheels you go for, the higher priced they will be. Yet, flashy custom wheels can be affordable too but their quality can vary too.

 The Type of Wheels

With the variety of Chevrolet car models out there, the traits of custom wheels have to be Chevrolet carefully looked into, which would prove appropriate for a particular model from Chevrolet and be preferable for the Chevrolet car owner. For an everyday Chevrolet car owner, lighter custom wheels can be quite appropriate, where as custom wheels on Chevrolet cars need to be lighter, especially if the driver uses his vehicle for racing as well. The material certainly plays quite a role in enabling such custom rims to be efficient and as far as efficiency is concerned custom rims made of alloy is more beneficial than using steel custom rims. Custom designed steel rims are actually preferred by owners of heavy and large vehicles such as Chevrolet trucks due to their heavy weight. Allow custom rims on their other hand weigh quite lighter so the vehicles, in which they are installed, are able to move much faster and so the gas mileage is also improved. The braking of vehicles using allow wheels is also improved since they conduct heat more ideally.

The quality of the paint and the painting finish over the custom rims matters too. Regular waxing and cleaning of custom rims is also essential in order to keep them clean and preventing rusting.

Parking Chevrolet cars in a Garage with a Garage Door Opener

Chevrolet cars and other vehicles have become the major modes of transportation of the 20th Century of today. Therefore every modern household was designed to have a garage by its side to facilitate and to provide space for all such vehicles to be parked in, rather than leaving them in the open. As time passed by, people started realizing that it was tiring and hard to lift those large, heavy garage doors every time someone need to enter or exit the garage with their vehicles. Thus to ease this problem, the garage door openers were invented which instantly solved this issue.

Firstly a garage door opener is a device functioning with an electric motor that automatically lift and close the garage doors for you to park your Chevrolet car. While earlier models have a switch placed at the garage wall to function them, latest versions as also operated by remote controls. The first garage door opener was invented by C.G. Johnson in 1926 which was an electric over head garage opener. A regular garage door opener firstly comprises of the power which has the electric motor which is an essential part of it. Attached with this power unit is a track while an arm is hooked to the garage door and is finally connected to a trolley. This assembly is what pushes the door upwards and pulls it back down as well. This assembly is connected from the trolley with a belt or chain which is then found around the motor which controls the opening and closing action of the door. This assembly also has a quick release mechanism which functions in times of emergency or power failures, disconnection the garage door from the main, mechanism so it can manually be lifted. The mechanical assembly of a garage door opener hangs openly near the ceiling, but out of reach, while the power unit is placed near the farthest wall of the garage. A garage door starts functioning when the signal from the remote reaches it or the switch allows the flow of electric power though the motor.

More advanced garage door openers used remote controls while the technology is still quite simple, the Chevrolet car owners could use the door open while still seated in their Chevrolet car. The remote control transmits a radio frequency, which the receiver attached to the main mechanism, receives and therefore would function in opening or closing the garage door for the Chevrolet car to enter or exit. Further advancements were made in its technology as well as its mechanism and modern era garage openers feature further more specifics like motion sensing lighting system which turn on while you enter your garage driving the Chevrolet car or locks out features, sealing off your garage by turning the receiver off when you’re out of your house for long periods. This is how the garage door opener came into existence and how it developed to offer Chevrolet car owners the convenience of ideally being able to park their Chevrolet car conveniently.

Protection for Chevrolet cars

Protecting Chevrolet cars is indeed quite important to extend the life of a Chevrolet vehicle. They are in fact no common at all, but we do feel the necessity to keep them well protected and for that we utilize accessories such as Chevrolet car covers and seat covers. Purchasing Chevrolet Cars on Sale by the Previous Owner

For the people of today, vehicles happen to be an asset which they essentially need. In fact everyone one of us today depends on vehicles to get from one location to another. Without out a vehicle, a majority of the people would not be able to go to work, to schools, to visit each other, almost anywhere. Therefore the vehicles which people require must be reliable and dependable enough as well. Thus, Chevrolet happens to be quite a reliable brand and the vehicles manufactured by the company are really dependable too. As for those, who would not be able to afford a worthwhile Chevrolet vehicle, purchasing a Chevrolet car put on sale by its owner is quite an affordable and ideal option.

When in search of Chevrolet cars, the best option is to go for vehicles which local car owners are selling out. This is ideal because it becomes possible for the buyer to personally meet the owner of the Chevrolet vehicle and even get a glimpse of the condition of the Chevrolet car. Most car owners decide to sell their used Chevrolet vehicles on their own instead of going to a dealership since that is a loss for them. This in fact is a positive fact for the buyers as well. This way the owner of the used car is able to offer the vehicle to potential buyers at negotiable prices. So, the buyer going for a local used Chevrolet vehicle would be saving money and would also be able to verify how well maintained the car is.

When buying a used vehicle from a Chevrolet dealership, the buyer is not able to become familiar with the previous owner of the Chevrolet car. Buying such used Chevrolet cars is in fact a bit risky. Car dealerships can be good as well, but there are those which are shady as well. For an average car buyer distinguishing between the two would be rather tricky. Often used Chevrolet vehicles at dealerships have an issue with the odometers so the actual mileage of the car never gets known. It easy to avoid this when buying a used Chevrolet car from a private sale since the buyer can personally check the vehicle.

The classified sections of the local newspapers are the ideal place to search for local used Chevrolet car sales, while these deals could be found online too. The buyer should also be well prepared before they actually contact the owner of any used Chevrolet cars. Any queries and doubt the buyer might have regarding the vehicle should be cleared at the time of meeting. The buyer should ensure that the used car is in good condition and would meet their requirements. The buyers can even hire a mechanic to get the Chevrolet vehicle properly checked. Finally, the buyer would have to consider the price of the used car and how affordable it is for them. If negotiations seem possible on the price of the Chevrolet vehicle, it is best for the buyer to negotiate. One fact that is for certain is that the buyer ends up with a better deal, than they would at a dealership.
